MONTPELIER -- Mount Mansfield Union running back Brian Wilcox rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns as the Cougars opened their high school football season with a 41-13 victory over Montpelier on Saturday.
Wilcox, who also had a two-point conversion pass, carried the ball 20 times for Mount Mansfield.
Mike Shaw had 10 carries for 103 yards and a touchdown for the Cougars, who led 14-6 at the half.

Connor Gallagher, David Bright and Zeb Armstrong added touchdown runs for Mount Mansfield.
Stefan Hill had eight carries for 49 yards and a touchdown to pace the Solons. Evan Parker was 4-for-6 passing for Montpelier (0-1), including a touchdown toss to Taylor McLaughlin.
The Cougars (1-0) blew the game open early in the second half with touchdowns on four consecutive possessions.
